Ojcow Tour
Feel like a Krakovian for a day and take a trip to a place the locals visit in their free time… Get away from the hordes of tourists and fast food chains and take a jaunt through the Krakow Valleys.
Tour information
Our trip takes us to Ojcow (Oits-oof) – a charming old village nestled in a wooded valley just outside of Krakow. It lies in one of the lushest stretches of countryside in the region, and the entire valley has been designated as a national park. It often feels that time stopped here 70 years ago – farmers trundle by on horse and cart, whilst the village itself is brimming with charming cottages…
We’ll take a stroll through the woods. As in all of Poland, history is hiding behind every corner and this Park is no different. Find ancient royal hiding places juxtaposed with bizarre geological formations – think Tolkien.
One of the highlights of the Ojcow tour will be Pieskowa Skala castle. A string of castles ranged across these hills in medieval times. They were called “the eagles’ nests” and the ruins of one can be explored above Ojcow. However, not all have fallen victim to the ravages of time, and a couple of miles up the road is an absolute stunner – Pieskowa Skala. This splendid edifice houses some gems from the collection of the Royal castle, and it is one of the best surviving castles in Poland. Much of the building today stands unchanged since the Renaissance.
This is a very laid back tour and, as always, chock full of interesting information on site and on the way there! Our guides are locals that do this kind of stuff in their free time! You’ll be sure to get a genuine, unforgettable experience. As always, we’ll pick you up and drop you off wherever you prefer.
